I Adore Aprons

It's true. A little known bit of trivia about me. I adore aprons. Not just any aprons, but vintage, soft, gently worn and reminiscent of my Grandma Stanton and my Great Grandma Cordie. I think it's because they take me back to a time when life was simpler and you were pretty sure that the world must revolve around you.

I have an apron that belonged to Grandma Cordie. It's nothing fancy, just an every day half-apron with red and blue diamond shapes on it, but I love it. I would loved to have been given one of Grandma Stanton's aprons, there are surely one or two out there somewhere. So many memories...

On my list of must-do projects, a couple of aprons are at the top of the list. My family might chuckle. I don't make it to the kitchen every day, but maybe if I had an apron I loved....I just might!!!!

(I'm pretty sure I won't need the boots!) ;)

Just A Little Eye Candy

No particular reason for this post. I just love a good looking man. It's a weakness. Gotten me into trouble more times than I care to count.

It's not just the fine looks though. These particular gentlemen have that certain
little something extra. It's the sexy confidence they exude.

Seriously, something about that wicked little grin.... gets me every time.

It has been a while since I've posted anything to my blog. I started out with the best of intentions and life got in the way. I so love reading all of the other blogs and I've lost count of
the number of tutorials I've viewed and the many projects I want to start. I did manage to try
a couple of the things I've learned from other blogs, and will post pics soon. Today I just wanted to talk a little about the hopes I have for a new year. I'm trying not to dwell on the negativity of
the struggles I faced in the last half of 2009. Starting out small, I've made a few changes, but I'm here to tell you, Look out world...the big changes are coming!

I miss you dork

Dear Mom,
Another Thanksgiving has come and gone without you.
How I wish you'd been there with us. Guess what? I
didn't cry this time! I still miss you every day...

You're never far from my thoughts.
Love you ten times!!!

Giving Thanks

Getting into the holidays soon and a lot of people
have been talking about what they are thankful for.
Today I'm thinking of the most basic things. The
sort of things we take for granted, like shoes! I've
heard of Toms before, but I just watched the video
and was very impressed. I had no idea, but found
out by visiting their site that there is a debilitating
disease contracted in Ethiopia caused by walking
on silica rich soil. Wearing shoes totally prevents
it!

I just watched a different video on another blog and
thought it was way cool. I thought this video below
was more important.

TOMS Shoes - YouTube - TOMS and Podo

It makes me wish Lumpkin was small again so I could get her this cute little shoes!

I even found a pair that I like!

I know a lot of you are on a tight budget like I am, but
if buying one pair of shoes can save a child's life, isn't it
worth a few extra dollars? I think that what Toms is
doing is a wonderful thing.

A Sad Day

I said goodbye to a friend today.
Still so hard to comprehend how someone so vibrant and
unique can be gone. Gone too soon. Only 43 years old. So
many memories and so much love for him from a now
-grieving family. I chose the picture of the folded flag because
I was so touched by the military ceremony at the graveside.
It had been many years since his service to his country, but
the honor and respect given him and his family was amazing.
It was a heartbreaking day and he will be sorely missed.
