Upcycled Tin Cans - Garden Lanterns/Votives

I heard about Pinterest from fellow bloggers and thought I'd check it out. It has been at least one month since I signed up, but had yet to really check it out and see what it's all about. Oh my! If you haven't signed up yet, please do! So many beautiful pictures and a ton of fab ideas and yummy goodness! This is one of my favorites from today that I will definitely be trying. Valentine Hearts

I couldn't decide if I wanted to offer a Valentine craft or not, but I was at my favorite store (HOBBY LOBBY) and they had all Valentine's Day items marked 40-60% off. I got 6 of these little papier mache beauties for 60 cents each! I HAD to buy them, because I already knew what I wanted to do with them. This is a good thing because I've been known to have a bad habit of buying things with no clue what the final product will be.

Ahhhh... the perils of nighttime photography with a cheap camera. Trust me, they're cute. The red heart is mod podged fabric squares that I've had in my stash for oh, about 12 years. I know, crazy. They were sent from Keepsake Quilters as part of a yearly membership offer years ago. I've been using the squares off and on the last six months when inspiration strikes.

The white heart is scrapbook paper attached with Mod Podge. The gold string was already attached to the hearts when I bought them. The silver bead was in my bead supplies from a broken lanyard I used to wear to work at the hospital. The ribbons were also on sale at Hobby Lobby and the key was also on hand and had been previously purchased at HL.

Now I just can't decide which one I like best. I still have 3 more (or is it 4?) to gussy up. What ever I decide to do with them, I'm fairly certain they will end up in my soon-to-be-opened etsy shop!
