Time Is NOT On My Side

Creative time has been at an all-time low this week. The focus has been on Bronzed Beauty and the sudden upswing in business (YAY!). Hopefully, there will be a small window of time on Saturday morning that I can sit quietly and craft to my heart's content. In the meantime, I have to get some shut-eye so I can stay awake at the office tomorrow, then tan a group of girls tomorrow evening.

(Me - dreaming of having the perfect abs)

Lumpkin and I shared some lovely together time this evening and practiced our airbrush tanning skills on each other. I'll let you know tomorrow how I look... ;)

Just kidding, Lumpkin!!!!

Good night, dear friends!

Altered Art? Mixed Media?

Of course, procrastinator that I am, I wait until Sunday evening to attempt a weekend project. I ran out of time to continue with the one I was working on... still waiting for the paint to dry. In the meantime, I thought, why not try a small item? I'm still learning about various types of art that the bloggers I visit are doing, and I thought I'd try my hand at something a little different than I normally do.

That sounds good, doesn't it? What I have is a shiny piece of art, a busted up tube of E-6000 and, yet again, super glue fingers. I think I've ended up with more questions than answers. What products should I be using? How can I make my cut-outs blend in a little better? And what else should I add? It definitely needs something. My ideas were good, however, I'm a little frustrated with the outcome. I would love to take some classes, and wish I had a mentor (and a big girl camera).

I'd love your input! Constructive criticism and helpful hints will be much appreciated!

Bronzed Beauty Mobile Tans

So it occurs to me this evening while considering what to talk about, that
I have failed to share my new business with you. Bronzed Beauty Mobile Tans.

I had never heard of mobile spray tans, but found out about it on another blog. (Can't remember which one right now...) I looked into it, ordered the equipment and nervously started my fledgling business.
I wasn't sure how it would turn out, so I practiced on my daughter and myself before beginning on paying customers.

Due to having a full-time job and being a Mom, I'm a little slow getting started, but I'm still so excited about it, and so far... my customers are giving me rave reviews. I'm working on advertising and a website, but for now, it's word of mouth.

It's a little hard to tell because the flash on my camera is so bright, but my profile pic was taken after my first tan. Keep in mind that I stay VERY pale. I was very happy with it. Everyone is always so surprised how natural the tans look. None of that orange stuff like you can get from conventional spray tans. Airbrush Tanning is the way to go!!! So if you're in central/southern Indiana, get in touch with me! Would be willing to make weekend trips for tanning parties!

Never Enough Time...

I am constantly full of ideas about the things I want to do, projects I want to try and business building ideas. What happens is an overly-long day at work, chores at home, supper to make, more importantly, spending time with my only child.

I know you shouldn't envy, but sometimes I wish I could know what it's like to have the luxury of being at home full-time. I'm tired. I feel pulled in two directions most all of the time. It's weary being responsible for the household all on my own. Don't get me wrong, I am sooo grateful to have a job in this economy, to have food on the table and a dependable vehicle. I am just yearning to be a full-time mom for just a little while. She's almost grown.

Just feeling a little meloncholy tonight. Missing my Mom. And on a brighter note, I'm celebrating my blog's one year anniversary this week. I'm cooking up something special. I think this calls for a giveaway!!! Still working on that. I'll announce it before the week's out. For now, I need to quit indulging in my blog reading/writing time and get some sleep! The alarm clock will be ringing all too soon!

An Inspirational Blog

I wanted to share one of my new favorite bloggers - Cindy Adkins. This is from one of her two blogs. I found the blog to be very uplifting and inspiring. Thank you Cindy!

Fabric Flowers and Other Thoughts

Over the time I've taken off from working on my blog, I worked on a couple of crafts
that I'd had in mind. I've also hit some yard sales and plan on repurposing some
items. Here are two of my latest projects.

The pink flower below is my favorite. I love the frayed edges. In its former life, it was a pillowcase. I got it for 25 cents at my neighbor's yard sale! And there are a dozen or so left to make! What a bargain. Most of the buttons I used were vintage (just plain old) and a few were purchase several years ago at Hobby Lobby.

I had some spare time a couple of weeks ago in the evenings and wanted to give it a shot. I'd seen various tutorials on some of my favorite blogs, and thought "I can do this!"

This portrays a reminder to myself... get some gloves before you use super glue again!!! That stuff stays on your fingers forever! Ok, maybe a few hours, but it felt like forever. I made these clothespin magnets last year at Christmas, but didn't like the original magnets I used. This time I use a stronger magnet. Big improvement!

I'm considering opening an etsy store. Any fellow bloggers with one? I'd love some input!

The flower below just happened to match perfectly with my zip-up hoodie.

The blue/maroon flower was my first attempt. It came out a little crooked, but I still love the way the buttons looked on it. My daughter said the fabric looked "grandma-ish". I'm going for vintage/retro - so I'm not offended.

Stay tuned! I have some weekend projects planned!
