A couple of weeks ago, I was running late while getting ready for church. I wanted to wear my new sweater and under it, the beautiful, vibrant purple, cap-sleeved blouse that I had worn one time. I turned the iron on, just to take out a couple of pesky wrinkles, and when I put the iron to the shirt... yes, that's right, it burnt an ugly hole in the front of the shirt. (Did I mention I'd worn it ONE time?)
So, what's a girl to do? I threw it away, then it hit me! Pull that shirt out of the trash now! You can use it for crafts!!! So I pulled it out and thought about what I might do. Immediately I thought of the plain, silver headband that Lumpkin wears. I wasn't sure if she would be willing to part with it in order for me to beautify it, but she was convinced when I showed her the beautiful flower below.
(My model was on a date, so I stuck it on my head. Too soon, I might add, as I had to cut the super glue out of my hair...)
I gotta get a new camera. I had a heck of a time trying to show the true color. Didn't happen. I guess we know what Mama's buying with her tax check this year!!!

I'm thinking we need a darker curtain behind the tree for optimum photo taking...
The above is where most of the day is spent. First preparing the feast, then just hanging out talking. From the look on Aunt Bev's face, I'm sure my Dad has said something a little sketchy... if you look really hard, you'll see me in the background.
Lumpkin wanted a picture with her Papaw.
These are the Christmas gift boxes I snazzed up for my Sisters.
And these are the pretty paper flowers made from book pages that I sat inside the box, on top of their gift.

It is a nice-sized wooden box. I thought it might be perfect for Lumpkin after a redo.
Note the lovely gold toned eagle.
The two coats of Behr black paint (courtesy of the Shop and Hop swag bag) happened prior to the move. I mod-podged the zebra print scrapbook paper to the lid.
And now, a beautiful sight to behold... a completed project.

Of course, we have no such animal in our home. I made a couple of trips to thrift stores, no luck. I didn't want to try and find one to buy, so... a trip to Goodwill and ta-da!!! A plain red cardigan (Grandma sweater in Lumpkin Speak) and a visit to Hobby Lobby, then home to spend the evening getting the Spirit Day sweater into Christmas mode. After all, we can't have Lumpkin not participating in Spirit Day!
Sweater before the bad elf began...
A sparkly plaid Christmas flower!
P.S. 5 inches of snow later, SNOW DAY! School was cancelled.

I am not stressing about a new job because I know it will happen. This is the best and most relaxed I've felt in almost two years. They say everything happens for a reason and I believe it! I was miserable, but would never have left that job on my own.
I can't believe Christmas is almost here! I have not completed one craft or gift project that I intended to do in the last month. I hope to finish all of the tedious chores this week so I can begin creating by the weekend! I have a Christmas Bazaar that I'll be working on Saturday. I will have a booth for my Just Jewelry business. Please visit my web page if you haven't had a chance to yet. I have perfect Christmas gifts priced affordably!
Have a great week my blog friends!!
